This course contains five sub-courses, which consist of theoretical and practical parts. The individual sub-courses should provide students simple and quick approaches needed for solving basic scientific problems that could rise during the course of their bachelor, diploma or PhD study. The first set will allow students to gain knowledge about protein cloning, expression and purification. The second part focuses on biochemical characterization of enzymes via their enzymatic activity as well as protein-protein interactions. The third set will provide simple biochemical methods to detect protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions as well as monitor motor activity of protein.

The study material “New methods in primary prevention of dental caries in children” is based on the need to present updated literature on primary prevention of dental caries in children, which reflects current trends and the latest findings of basic, applied and clinical research in the field of etiopathogenesis and prevention of dental caries. Due to the intensive scientific work of our team in this field, supported by a number of Czech and international publications, we have implemented results from molecular genetics and microbiology or behavioral intervention into the scripts. We point out the necessity of interdisciplinary cooperation and the benefits and interconnection of theoretical and clinical disciplines at medical and science faculties, not only in the framework of oral health research.

The second conference MEFANET, which was focused on e-learning and health informatics in the education of medical disciplines, took place in Hotel Voronez (Brno, Czech Republic) on 20-21 November 2008. Apart from general topics related to modern methods of education, the last year's conference (MEFANET 2008) concentrated on the specialties of dentistry, stomatology and maxillofacial traumatology.
